Data Rights and Exchange at the Edge

How decentralized AI has the potential of changing everything in the online economy.

In December of 2018, Dataswift CEO Irene Ng and Hamed Haddadi collaborated on an article for Wired Magazine about Decentralized Artificial Intelligence, and it's potential to upend the online economy. In February of 2019, Irene referenced this article in another essay about data ownership, sharing, and processing at the “edge.” 

The concepts in both articles discuss the move from companies owning personal data to people retaining ownership and control of their personal data while granting companies the rights to access and use smaller (selected) portions of that data to provide services for individuals. You’ll see that they even start to hint at potential payment mechanisms where we begin to “pay” for services with our personal data.
